Henk Jan Nix
For the European car dismantlers umbrella organisation EGARA, Henk Jan Nix is active from 2005 on and since 2007 as General secretary with good relations with EC, manufacturers and other parties. Based in the Netherlands, Henk Jan is a senior policy advisor for the Dutch dismantlers association Stiba and is involved since 1998. Henk Jan is Bsc in Environmental science.
Willy Tomboy
• Master degree in Economics and in Environmental Management.
• Worked 44 years in the automotive industry: in Belgium, Germany, Canada, and in the USA – for General Motors Corporation (27 years) and for Toyota Motor Europe (17 years – as Director Environment & Corporate Social Responsibility).
• Worked for RECHARGE, the advance rechargeable & Lithium batteries association, on industrial batteries for electro-mobility 2013 – 2019.
• Working Group member of EU Commission program Batteries Europe, on second life batteries for stationary applications, and on Education & Skills Development.
• Member of the International Advisory Panel of the Australian Battery Stewardship Council.
• Moderate an ELV Forum on behalf of stakeholders in EU Member States who are involved in the implementation of the ELV Regulation, being some of them producer responsible organizations.
Adam Małyszko
Entrepreneur, highly recommended expert in Poland and abroad in the field of recycling of end-of-life vehicles and broadly understood waste management. Co-founder and for 19 years President of the FORS Car Recycling Forum Association. Active Member of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Scrap Economy. Member of Group 7 „Closed-loop economy – water, mining raw materials, waste” of the National Intelligent Specialization operating in the Ministry of Development and Technology. Initiator of many practical and legislative solutions in the field of vehicle recycling and other waste groups. Author of numerous industry articles published in Poland and abroad. Creator of the „ARES” dismantling station management system – Ambit Recycling System. Member of several Working Teams operating at the SME Ombudsman.
In 2024, awarded the Honorary Badge for services to the development of the economy of the Republic of Poland.
Kacper Winiarczyk
Currently Head of Central Supply & Poland GM at OVOKO, previously he held positions including CCO at dott (a bike rental service for minutes and an e-scooter network) and General Manager at Uber, where he was the first employee to introduce services to the Polish market over a decade ago.
Now, Ovoko is a Lithuanian startup that develops a marketplace that connects used car parts sellers from all over Europe with dealers, mechanics and enthusiasts. The company offers a catalog of over 9 million used car parts, provides fast shipping in Europe and handles order returns. Every month, it delivers and gives a second life to over 100,000 components to customers.
Agata Juzyk
A leader and expert with many years of experience in managing and supervising large innovation and investment projects. She headed R&D departments at KGHM Group for a decade, and developed a battery recycling plant at Eneris Group. She continues to advise companies on how to design and implement R&D strategies, innovation culture and run complex projects. For several years she has been active in the Forum for Social Initiatives Foundation, developing climate education models, building systems for managing explicit and tacit knowledge, training teachers and working with school principals.
Agnieszka Merkisz-Guranowska
Professor Agnieszka Merkisz-Guranowska is a member of the Central Council for Science and Higher Education for 2022-2025.
Director of the Institute at the Poznan University of Technology – Faculty of Construction and Transport.
Head of the Department of Transport Systems at the Institute of Machines and Motor Vehicles at the Faculty of Machines and Transport at the Poznan University of Technology.
She is also a member of the American society of engineers SAE International, the Polish Society of Ecological Vehicles, the Polish Scientific Society of Internal Combustion Engines, the Car Recycling Forum Association FORS and the Polish Scientific Recycling Association.
Her scientific interests focus on the organization of recycling networks for end-of-life vehicles and the modelling of sustainable transport systems. In the area of recycling, it’s covering the issues of shaping the recycling network for end-of-life means of transport, mainly motor vehicles, in particular modelling the recycling network, assessment of legal regulations and their impact on the functioning of the network, and economic and financial analysis of process participants.
In addition to the topics related to vehicle recycling, another scientific and research area being developed by prof. Merkisz-Guranowska are issues related to the development of transport systems on a micro, mezo and macro scale, taking into account ecological, social and economic aspects.
In total, the scientific achievements include over 150 publications, 10 patent applications and participation in 90 projects and research works carried out for the needs of science and industry.
Jaco Huisman
Jaco Huisman received the M.S. degree in chemical engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in 1999 and the Ph.D. degree from Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Design, Construction and Production.
Since April 1, 2022, Mr. Jaco Huisman is the policy officer for End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) at the European Commission – DG Environment. In this capacity he coordinated the impact assessment and the drafting of the ELV Regulation proposal, adopted by the European Commission in July last year.
From 2018 to 2022 he worked as scientific officer on secondary raw materials at the European Commission Joint Research Center and was one of the lead authors of report on “Critical Raw Materials for Strategic Technologies and Sectors” and various support studies for the Battery Regulation.
Jaco has a background in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Design Engineering with over 20 years of experience in electronics recycling. Before joining the European Commission, he worked at United Nations University in Germany as a scientific advisor between 2006 and 2018 and was a part-time associate professor at Delft University of Technology and Leiden University in the same period. His research work includes roughly 120 recycling related publications. He was the scientific coordinator of several key European projects including the FP7 “Countering WEEE Illegal Trade” (CWIT) and the H2020 “Prospecting Secondary raw materials in the Urban Mine” (ProSUM) projects.
Jakub Faryś
Jakub Faryś – President of the Polish Automotive Industry Association PZPM – the largest Polish organization of employers in the automotive industry, associating manufacturers and representatives of manufacturers of motor vehicles, motorcycles and scooters and body manufacturers in Poland.
He supports activities for the development and promotion of the Polish automotive sector, participates in the work of the government and parliamentary committees in giving opinions on the drafts of the most important legal acts concerning the automotive industry. Mr Faryś represents the interests of member companies in the bodies of the European Union, including the forum of the European Parliament and the European Commission. He participates in meetings of European industry organizations: ACEA (European Association of Vehicle Manufacturers), ACEM (European Motorcycle Manufacturers Association) and CLCCR – (European Association of Trailer and Semi-Trailer Manufacturers). He is the author of many publications in the economic and automotive press; a commentator on the problems of the industry and its environment.
